Drill Mobilized To Courageous Lake Diamond Property
Vancouver, April 1, 2008 - Consolidated Global Diamond Corp. (TSX-Venture: CK, Frankfurt: C3Y) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has mobilized a drill to its 385,000-acre Courageous Lake property located within the Slave geological province to be used in the 2008 spring drilling program. The program will test large geophysical anomalies within an extensive kimberlitic crater system below Courageous Lake.
A compilation and review of previous exploration work on the property has provided a geological framework and depositional model that help to explain these anomalies encountered by previous operators in past drilling activities. This insight has been used to develop an informed spring 2008 exploration drilling plan that will aim to identify a diamondiferous kimberlitic source within this extensive crater system.
The Courageous Lake property is located approximately 250 kms northwest of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. The property lies between the productive Ekati and Diavik mines 50 kms to the north in the Lac de Gras mining camp and the promising Snap Lake and Gaucho Kue deposits to the South. The Lac de Gras mining camp makes Canada the fourth largest diamond-producing country in the world, behind Botswana and Russia. Lac de Gras produces approximately 15 per cent of the world's diamonds on average by value.
The drill program on the property will be under the direction of Edward Walker, Ph.D., P.Geo. and Derrick Strickland, P.Geo. Dr. Walker is an independent consultant with over 20 years of proven technical and management expertise in mineral exploration, development and analysis for diamonds and precious and base metals. He has consulted for some of the largest diamond mining companies in the world. Derrick Strickland has over 15 years of experience in diamond exploration, having managed major exploration programs for Ashton Mining of Canada and Peregrine Diamonds Ltd.
The spring drill program will continue as long as ice conditions permit.
